> Sumary of Suppliers' Database

Currently SPX Chongqing Center is building a database of local suppliers in accordance with the standards set up by UNIDO.

Now we've had over 300 companies' information in our database and the number will go up to 500 at the end of 2006.

Necessary information in this database is divided into three types:

• Basic Information: company name, nature, activity, contact method, employment, export markets and other general data.
• Production Information: product, material, process, manufacturing equipment, test facility, major customers, quality management and environment issues.
• Cooperation Strategy: cooperation method, technical advantage, trade experience and required assistance.  

The basic functions of our database software are:

• The registration of enterprise's information based on detailed questionnaires and surveys.
• The classification of these companies according to a set of given industrial nomenclatures, such as sector, product and process.
• A search of supplying enterprises according to a very large set of criteria (including an exhaustive analysis of the registered machinery and its technical characteristics) to match them with inquiries form buyers and contractors.

Over 300 enterprises almost cover all major industrial fields. The proportion of various industrial sectors is outlined by the following table:

• Automobile Industry: 48%
• Motorcycle Industry: 23%
• Mechanical Parts Industry:14%
• Machinery Industry: 9%
• Instrument Industry: 4%
• Others: 2%

In terms of output, these enterprises can be divided into 4 groups, and their respective proportion is as follows:

• Industrial Output: 1 million Yuan -10 million Yuan (incl. 1 million Yuan) 10%
• Industrial Output: 10 million Yuan-30 million Yuan (incl. 10 million Yuan) 25%
• Industrial Output: 30 million Yuan-300 million Yuan (incl. 30 million Yuan) 55%
• Industrial Output: above 3000 million Yuan (incl. 30 million Yuan) 10%
